Award winning author, Philip Reeve visited Lampton School on Thursday, March 8th and was well received by over 130 Lampton students and staff. The library were able to offer almost all of his back catalogue for students to loan out before the visit so that they would be able to appreciate his visit fully. Mr Reeve did two group sessions that day plus a session to sign his books that we sold at a library-subsidized rate on the day.
One of the sessions encompassed his writings and inspirations, complete with an illustrated slide show. The another session was an interactive illustration workshop that required the students to complete a comic strip. Mr Reeve was very impressed with the students attentive, inquisitive behaviour and clever questions after the event. He later went on to write some extremely complimentary remarks in a letter which made us very proud of our students. Click on thumbnails below for additional images.
The library staff received the following message from Philip Reeve:
Thanks so much for organising everything so well the other day ( last Thursday): you and your colleagues were wonderful, and I hope the students enjoyed it as much as I did. At some point this week I’ll try to find time to do a blog about the visit. What an excellent school, and what a great library you run!
Very best wishes,
