So 14 intrepid pupils and 2 excited members of staff set off for the beautiful and picturesque Austrian Tyrol for the Lampton School annual ski trip. So, 14 pupils returned expert skiers and 2 members of staff returned exhausted, all with smiles on their faces and not a scratch in sight.
Lampton pupils were joined by pupils from Icknield High School, near Luton, and they made friends instantly and got on superbly all week. Pupils were a credit to their respective schools throughout the week.
It had snowed when we arrived so the 1st morning skiing was superb, making the 20hr coach journey all worthwhile and the snow and the weather remained fantastic all week. As the week progressed the pupils continued to learn sound skiing skills on excellent snow and were soon whizzing around the mountains.
In the evening pupils enjoyed swimming, bowling, a disco, a quiz and a special Tyrolean evening where Lampton won the ‘Milking the cow’ (Daisy) competition thanks to Omar Miyanji (9Q). We did fair well too in the Yodelling and Austrian dancing but were just beaten by Icknield High School.
The week was great exhausting fun and the silence on the coach, aside from snoring, was testimony to this. We will return and next year’s trip date will be from 4th – 12th April 2014. More details to follow.
