Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the second week of the summer term 2025. It’s week B, so year assemblies are taking place.

Last week years 7, 8 and 9 were sitting formal examinations in their core subjects in the sports hall. A really important time to remember work covered in the year so far and to prepare for year groups to be promoted after the May half-term break.

This is a short, but critical half-term for students in all year groups so full attendance is crucial. Please support your child by making sure that they attend school every single day and on time for Registration at 8:40am. Every day and minute counts towards success!

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in Hounslow: New Website

Hounslow's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) provides free and confidential guidance regarding SEND for Hounslow parents, carers, children and young people aged 0-25. They do this through the website www.hounslowsendiass.org.uk . The new website aims to help families better understand their rights and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) policies, navigate education, health and care plans (EHCPs) and prepare for annual reviews, mediation and tribunals. It will be a vital resource for Hounslow families who have children with SEND, who need increased support.  

To get in touch with the SENDIASS team, call the helpline at 020 8583 2607 (Monday-Friday, 9AM-2PM) or email sendiass@hounslow.gov.uk. This is a self-referral service and professionals cannot refer on behalf of families.

Supporting emotional health and wellbeing

Hounslow Family Hubs, in partnership with Solihull Approach, inourplace, and the NHS, are offering free online courses to support emotional health and wellbeing from pregnancy to 19+.

Designed by clinical psychologists, these courses help you better understand your child at every stage. The courses can be translated into 108 languages using the Google Translate widget, with some of the courses including voice-overs in languages such as Modern Standard Arabic and Urdu. Healthy Schools London

We are delighted to receive the Healthy Schools London Bronze Award in recognition of the hard work our staff and students carry out to support positive health and wellbeing in our school community. The award, given by the Mayor of London, is given to schools with a health-promoting environment and ethos for students and staff. Find out more here.

 

Student health and wellbeing

Hounslow School Nurses team have given us information to share with you about the importance of immunisation, and allergy awareness. Please email the school with details of any change to your child’s health and wellbeing.
