Lampton School - Week 14
Posted on Dec 11th 2023
Monday 11th December
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the fourteenth week of the Autumn Term 2023. It’s Week B so year assemblies are taking place celebrating achievements made this term and presentation of the much sought after subject praise badges.
A busy programme of events continues this week, not least the Y11 Parents’ Evening taking place between 4 -7pm on Thursday 14th - attendance is essential in order to get feedback about the first round of PPEs and next steps for success in the summer. Y10 begin their PPEs on Thursday and we wish them all the best of luck.
My thanks to all our talented students who performed in last week’s Performing Arts Christmas Showcase and to Ms Mercuri and the team for leading the event.
Only one week and three and a half-days remain until term ends on Thursday 21st December at 12:30pm. Full attendance, excellent punctuality and completion of work is needed by all students so that they maximise every minute of their valuable time in school. The reward comes with a nice break of over two weeks until the Spring Term begins on Monday 8th January 2024.
With best wishes for the week ahead,
Stephen Davis
Safeguarding briefing: Is your child ready for social media?
Each year the safeguarding team deal with the consequences of poor decisions that they have made when online. One of the most common issues is misuse of social media, or students being bullied or harassing others online. Issues that start online can very quickly become problems in the ‘real’ world too, such as when a student sends a nude picture and this leads to them being coerced or bullied by others.
To protect your child, it’s important to know what socia media they are accessing, and what they are doing online. We strongly recommend that parents follow the guidance in our E-Safety guidance, regularly check their child's phones and know and enforce minimum age requirements for social media.
If you have any concerns about your child or others, please contact the safeguarding team safeguarding@lampton.org.uk.
Last day of term
A reminder that our last day of term is Thursday 21st December, with students in registration, p.1-3 as usual before being dismissed at 12.30pm.
Access to Careers in Medicine
Last week fifteen Year 12 and Year 13 students attended a Make a Medic event at Cleveland Clinic London. The event was designed to promote access to careers in medicine to students from under-represented backgrounds. Our students spoke with doctors and clinicians who are experts in their field, met with current medicine degree students, and enjoyed a tour of the hospital.

Thank you to those of you who attended our Sixth Form Open Evening last month. The deadline for applications is Friday 15th December. The application form can be accessed through the school website:

In January, we will begin our interviews with Year 11 to discuss their course choices and their progress so far.
Year 11 Parents Evening - 14 December 2023
We look forward to Year 11 Parents Evening, which takes place this Thursday.
A reminder that we consider it vital that all parents attend parents evening. Where parents have not made appointment yet, we have made appointments on your behalf through Schoolcloud. Please check your emails for a schedule of appointments.
Please sign in when you arrive at parents evening; you will be given a pack containing students PPE results and other important information. Please keep to the appointment times - this helps to ensure the efficient running of the evening for all parents. Teachers will start the conversation by showing you students' work in their evidence, as the starting point for a discussion about your child's progress.
All students should be in full school uniform. There will be a scheduled break between appointments at 5.30 with a short presentation in the main atrium from Ms Ali and Mr Bates on the year ahead.
