Lampton School - Week 13

Posted on Dec 4th 2023

Monday 4th December

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the thirteenth week of the Autumn Term 2023. It’s Week A with whole school assemblies taking place - these are being led by Mr Iglikowski-Broad on the theme of equalities, in particular the 20th anniversary of the repeal of Section 28.

It was good to see a large number of parents at last Thursday’s Y9 Parents’ Evening. Our next Parents’ Evening is for Y11 on Thursday 14th December from 4 - 7pm. These events are so important to discuss your child’s progress and we expect all families to attend.

Y10 are gearing up for their first round of Pre-Public Exams (PPEs) which take place before term ends - the timetable has been distributed to families.

Thank you to the over 700 families who have signed up for the SIMS app already. It really is a great way of being involved with your child’s education. We will be talking about the app at all the face-to-face parents’ evenings which are coming up. If you have any questions/queries about the app please contact us on parentapp@lampton.org.uk It would be great to get 100% sign-up!

This Thursday evening sees the school’s Christmas Drama and Music Showcase event at 5pm in the school hall - please come and support our talented students.

As I said last week, every minute in school counts. Please make sure that your child maximises their potential by attending, punctually, every day between now and when the term ends on Thursday 21st December at 12.30pm.

With best wishes for the week ahead.

Stephen Davis

Safeguarding briefing - honour-based abuse

Honour-based abuse is a crime or incident committed to protect or defend the 'honour' of a family or community. It is associated with feelings of shame that may be rooted in cultural or religious belief, where the actions of a family member, or member of the community, is deemed to have violated the honour code. People who carry out honour-based abuse are often close family members but also extended family or community members. Although rare, we should be aware that students may experience threats, coercion or violence as a result of the concept of 'honour'. Or students may be affected by witnessing honour-based abuse directed at other family members or friends. This information from the Metropolitan Police summarises different examples of honour based abuse and gives guidance on the warning signs. If you think that any student is at risk, please contact the Safeguarding team using MyConcern. If you would like any further information please contact the Safeguarding team.
