Lampton School Newsletter: Week 6, 2024-25

Posted on Oct 7th 2024

Monday 7th October 2024

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the sixth week of the Autumn Term 2024.

It’s Week B, so year assemblies are taking place - including the celebration of achievement points over the last fortnight and attendance draws. Our target is for a minimum of 96% attendance at Lampton - a reminder that a ‘U’ code for arriving in the morning after 9.10am means that your child is marked as absent from school for that whole morning and this will drag their attendance rate down. Punctuality is therefore essential to ensure that attendance is maximised.

My thanks to all students who supported last week’s very successful Open Evening. We had an incredibly busy evening and very positive feedback from visitors. Well done to all student helpers and speakers for being such great ambassadors for Lampton School.

The Year 13 and Year 11 Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs) are fast approaching. Year 13 will be on study leave in the week commencing Monday 14th October and Year 11 PPEs start the following week on 14th October, with them remaining on-site between examinations. These examinations fulfil a vital function in preparing students for the final exams in summer - for example, for Year 11 tiering decisions for specific subjects rely a great deal on how students perform at this time. Serious work outside of school time is the only way for students, in both cohorts, to ensure that they are successful.

For information, behaviour points have been amended on SIMS and students in Y7-11 will be informed of these changes in assemblies. Failure to follow our uniform expectations will result immediately in a behaviour point and community service being issued - this includes not wearing blazers, incorrect school shoes and shirts untucked. As per Department for Education statutory guidance, full school uniform must be worn to and from school. Thank you for your support.

With best wishes for the week ahead.

New minibus

New Minibus

Today we took delivery of our smart new minibus which will provide an even safer and more reliable method of transporting students to sports fixtures, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and educational visits. All staff who drive the minibus, a 2024 Citroen Relay, have completed training under the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) and the school has the required insurance policy. Packed with safety features, wheelchair access and with a more eco-friendly engine, this new minibus is ready for the adventures ahead!
