Lampton School - Week 5
Posted on Oct 3rd 2022
Monday 3rd October
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the fifth week of the Autumn Term 2022. It’s Week B and our character focus for this fortnight is ‘organisation’.
The main event in school this week is our annual Open Evening for students in Y6 moving to Lampton in Y7 September 2023. Open Evening is an important event and allows us to showcase the successes of our school community: our exam success over many years; our extra curricular programme of enrichment, trips and visits; our impressive university entrance record and celebrating the success of our former students - our alumni - Old Lamptonians. The evening also affords the opportunity for our current students to act as guides to our many visitors, to support in subject departments or to perform in music and drama - all important skills leading to the development of positive character traits! The evening is always busy as the school is heavily oversubscribed - for the 240 places available in Y7 in 2022, over 1100 applications were received.
School will close on Thursday 6th October at 12.30pm for all students and there will be a late start on Friday 7th October with registration at 9am. Lessons will take place as usual from 9.10am - 3.10pm that day.
October marks the annual Black History Month and we will be celebrating this in school with a number of events, including assemblies and work in lessons. More details will be shared in this newsletter.
As the weather becomes more autumnal, please support the school by ensuring that your child has a plain black coat for school and that scarves are plain black too. Hoodies and tracksuit tops are not permitted to be worn and will be confiscated.
With best wishes for the week ahead.

Safeguarding Bulletin: Healthy Relationships
It’s natural for children and teenagers to be curious about sex and relationships as they grow older. More young people are also starting relationships online, or use things like social media or video apps to communicate with their partners. It can be difficult or awkward to talk to children about developing healthy relationships, but it’s also essential. This guidance from the NSPCC (written for parents) can help us to navigate the issue: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/sex-relationships/healthy-relationships/
New extra-curricular activities timetable for 2022/23
At Lampton we’re proud of the range of extracurricular activities available to students. We’ve recently updated our timetable of extra-curricular clubs and activities, and encourage all students to go beyond their comfort zone! See link for the updated timetable.
