Lampton School - Week 11
Posted on Nov 20th 2023Monday 20th November
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the eleventh week of the Autumn Term 2023. It’s Week A and our whole school assemblies are being led by Mr Leggett (Deputy Headteacher) on the theme of change and how small changes can make a big difference.
By now you should have received the set up notification for the SIMS parent app. If you require any assistance or you have not received the registration email please contact parentapp@lampton.org.uk
Last Friday we welcomed a large number of visitors to the school for our ‘You can do’ careers day. It was great to see so many of our alumni supporting the event and to hear of their successes. My thanks to Mr Smale (Senior Head of Year) and colleagues for leading this event.
This week we are welcoming colleagues from other schools who are part of the Challenge Partners network. Tomorrow and Wednesday morning they will be meeting with students, staff and visiting lessons. We look forward to receiving their feedback.
My thanks for your support in ensuring that your child/children are attending school regularly and on-time. Our new punctuality community service each day from 3:10 - 3:40pm is working well. Y8 have topped the leaderboard with 94.9% attendance, followed by Y7 with 94.8% and Y12 with 93.9%.
A reminder that school is closed on Friday 24th November and Monday 27th November for our well-being days. We return at the usual time of 8:40am on Tuesday 28th November.
With best wishes for the week ahead.
Stephen Davis
Communication between families and staff
Please refer to the Communication page on the school’s website for guidance on what you can expect when communicating with staff at the school. Please contact us to book an appointment if you wish to meet with a member of staff, to avoid disappointment when visiting the school without having a meeting scheduled. Thank you for your supportive cooperation.
Safeguarding briefing: Child on child abuse
It is important to recognise that abuse isn’t always perpetrated by adults; children can abuse other children and it can happen both inside and outside of educational settings and online. This is referred to as 'child-on-child abuse' (formally known as peer on peer abuse). Preventing child on child abuse is one of our key safeguarding priorities.
At Lampton, we maintain an attitude of 'it could happen here', and so we remain alert to signs that students may have suffered from abuse from another young person - at home, in school or in any other setting. This week Year 7 will receive a safeguarding focused assembly, on child on child abuse so that they can be alert to the risks and know where to go for support. We will always support those affected by abuse, as well as working with our partners in the police and local Children’s Services as appropriate. If you are concerned that your child has suffered abuse from another child, please do get in touch with the safeguarding team safeguarding@lampton.org.uk.
