Lampton School - Week 35

Posted on Jun 17th 2024

Monday 17th June

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the ninth week of the Summer Term 2024. It’s Week A and Mr Bates (Deputy Headteacher) is leading our whole school assemblies on the theme of Pride Month.

On Friday we said farewell to Year 11 after their last exam with a special assembly - my thanks to Ms Virdi and the team of tutors for leading this event. The Y11 Prom takes place at the Riverside venue on Thursday 4th July. We look forward to celebrating the success of the students at GCSE results day on Thursday 25th August.

This week sees the trip days starting for all year groups. New Y8 are leading the way with trips to: Hounslow Urban Farm, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London Zoo, the Science Museum and Kew Gardens. Tomorrow (Tuesday 18th June) is the Y10 Celebration Evening and I look forward to seeing many families at this special event where we will look back at success in Y9 and forward to the GCSE courses.

With best wishes for the week ahead.

Stephen Davis

LB Hounslow survey on improving Lampton Park

We are looking to undertake several improvements to Lampton Park as part of our Make Your Mark project which aims to make the space more accessible, inclusive and meaningful to our residents. To understand the current use and aspiration for the park, we have developed a survey as shown here https://talk.hounslow.gov.uk/lampton-park-improvement-survey

We welcome your suggestions and would encourage you to complete the survey to let us know your ideas by Monday 1st July 2024. As the Council is using a new consultation platform, you will be asked to complete a quick registration process before going on to submit your responses to our survey. If you would like to request an accessible version of this consultation, such as large print, Easy Read or Braille, please email: consult@hounslow.gov.uk .

We invite you to take the survey and to share far and wide to residents, community groups and other stakeholders who may be interested in sharing their views on Lampton Park.

Lost property

If your child has lost any belongings over the school year, please ask them to see Pauline at the gate in the morning or afternoon, so that she can help them look through the lost property store. During the summer holiday all lost property will be washed and donated to good causes.

Safeguarding briefing - honour based abuse

Honour-based abuse is a crime or incident committed to protect or defend the 'honour' of a family or community. It is associated with feelings of shame that may be rooted in cultural or religious belief, where the actions of a family member, or member of the community, is deemed to have violated the honour code. People who carry out honour-based abuse are often close family members but also extended family or community members. Although rare, we should be aware that students may experience threats, coercion or violence as a result of the concept of 'honour'. Or students may be affected by witnessing honour-based abuse directed at other family members or friends. This information from the Metropolitan Police summarises different examples of honour based abuse and gives guidance on the warning signs. If you think that any student is at risk, please contact the Safeguarding team using MyConcern. If you would like any further information please contact the Safeguarding team.
