Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to our newsletter for the first week of the Autumn Term 2024.  Yesterday our new Y7 cohort joined the Lampton School Community and enjoyed a day of settling in and finding their way around the school site; our new Y12 had their Induction Day to the Sixth Form too. Today all year groups have returned to start the new term.

We have, again, enjoyed a summer of success in the Public Examinations both at Post-16 and GCSE. Five students from last year’s Y13 will be taking up places to study either medicine or dentistry in the coming weeks as well as other students gaining entry to Russell Group universities and workplace apprenticeships. We wish them all the very best for the future! At GCSE there was much to celebrate too, including one student who achieved a Grade 9 in every single subject - an achievement which places them in the top band of students nationally. So, for new Y13 and Y11 the bar has been set high and they must now use every minute available to ensure that they are successful too in Summer 2025.

Following Dr Isham’s retirement at the end of last term, there has been a change to some responsibilities for members of the Senior Leadership Team.  Mr Bates will remain as one of the Deputy Headteachers, but will change responsibilities and lead on Curriculum and Teaching and Learning; Ms Kapila is promoted to Deputy Headteacher and will lead on Student Support while also becoming the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead; Mr Smale is promoted to Assistant Headteacher and will lead  on Behaviour and Personal Development; we welcome a new member of staff, Ms Hussan who takes on the role of Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and Acting SENDCO.

It was very pleasing to see the vast majority of students returning to school fully equipped and smartly dressed. As a reminder, blazers are to be worn at all times in school and on the journey to and from school; trainers (including black trainers) are not permitted. Please see the uniform page on the school website for full details of our expectations: https://www.lampton.org.uk/365/uniform

As per usual, the next newsletter will be issued on Monday 9th September.

With best wishes for the remainder of this week.
