Hounslow’s Local Offer
The London Borough of Hounslow is excited to announce its brand-new Local Offer website, which provides advice, guidance and support for professionals and families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is now live. You can view it here: www.hounslow.gov.uk/send-local-offer
This website has been produced with the help of the Hounslow Community, including young people, parents/carers and professionals and is a vital resource for families and any professionals working with children and young people with SEND.
To celebrate the launch of this new website, the London Borough of Hounslow are hosting a Local Offer Launch event on Friday, 24 January on the ground floor of Hounslow House, Bath Road, Hounslow, TW3 3EB from 10am-4.30pm. This is a marketplace event with both Council services and external partners attending. No invitation is required, parents and carers can drop by to find out more about what services and support are available for children and young people with SEND.
If you have any further questions about the Local Offer site or our launch event, please contact us at thelocaloffer@hounslow.gov.uk
Attendance
We want to do everything we can to support your child to succeed at Lampton and therefore we are continuing this term with tutor conversations about attendance and also praise through letters home, vouchers for students with 96% or above and celebrating students who have improved their attendance. Please let us know if you need support with your child attending school. We will support you and your child to remove barriers and to be successful academically and personally. We have a staged approach to supporting pupils to ensure they have good attendance. The approach is described below:
Stage 1: A pupil’s form tutor will receive data from our tracker. They will speak to the pupil about decreasing attendance. This is to help remove any barriers to learning
Stage 2: After the first 4 weeks, pupils whose attendance is below 90%, 70% or 50% will receive a text/call home about decreasing attendance. This is to remind parents that we have a target of 96% attendance as a school
Stage 3: A letter will be sent home, describing the concerns we have about a pupil’s attendance Stage 4: An attendance contract will be signed and parents will be invited in for a meeting. This is to set targets to improve attendance and look at what support the school can give to help a pupil improve their attendance
Stage 5: If a pupil’s attendance continues to decline, a member of the Senior Leadership Team or a Trustee will meet with the pupil and their parents. A school attendance support services referral will be completed. This is a referral to the local authority
Stage 6: A family you will be set targets by the Local Authority. If these are not met it can result in prosecution and/or fines. This includes fines for persistent lateness.
