Lampton School Newsletter: Week 17 2024-25

Posted on Jan 13th 2025

Monday 13th January 2025

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Happy New Year and welcome to our newsletter for the first week of the Spring Term 2025.

It’s Week B, so year assemblies are taking place this week.

Year 12 students completed their first round of pre-public exams last week.  Students will be receiving feedback from their subject teachers shortly. It’s important that this feedback is acted upon to secure progress this year and to prepare for year 13.

We have a number of key events on the horizon. The first is year 9 Options Evening which begins at 4pm next Tuesday afternoon (21 January). Other important dates to note are:

Tuesday 28 January                   Year 8 Celebration Evening at 4pm

Thursday 6 February                  Year 10 Parents’ Evening from 4-7pm

Thursday 13 February                Year 13 Parents’ Evening from 4-7pm

Friday 14 February                     Remote Learning Day for students - further details to follow

Monday 24 February                  INSET Day - school site closed to students

Please make a note of these dates.

Our attendance focus continues with our target for all students being 96% attendance. Please support your child to achieve this ambitious target. Time away from school has a negative impact on their achievement. The very best way to support your child is to make sure that they attend school every day and that they are on time every day. As a reminder, the school never authorises term-time leave.

With best wishes for the week ahead,

Stephen Davis

Year 9 Options Evening: 4pm Tuesday 21 January

A reminder that options evening will take place on Tuesday 21 January 2024 between 16.00pm-18.00pm. The evening will start in the main hall. Pupils in year nine have already been given a letter about attending the evening. The letter can also be found on the year nine Google Classroom. Pupils should wear school uniform to this event and bring their options booklet with them. They will receive their booklet on Monday 20 January 2025 during registration. Following the options evening all key information covered will be posted on the school website under parent, options 2025. We look forward to welcoming year nine parents to options evening.

Free Cycling Lessons

London Borough of Hounslow’s Road Safety Team has arranged free, fun-filled rides and cycling lessons for teenagers (suitable for ages 11-16, from beginner to confident) every Sunday at Heston Park and Hanworth Park. The council also offers cycling lessons for younger children and adults.

Keeping bikes and scooters secure

We greatly encourage the use of active modes of transport for students making their way to and from school, for example walking, cycling or using a scooter (non-electric only please). Bikes and scooters may be parked in the school’s cycle shelter (next to the Pears building) at the owner’s risk. Please use a lock to secure bikes and scooters at school, and we recommend using BikeRegister, a UV pen, and photos to identify a bike as yours.

Uniform

Please ensure your child has the correct uniform. This includes blazers, black shoes and no jewellery

Attendance

Please click here to see a poster from the National Health Service. The poster describes reasons why parents should and should not keep their children off school. Please support your child and the school by ensuring your child comes to school every day.
