Lampton School - Week 32
Posted on May 22nd 2023
Monday 22nd May
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome to our newsletter for the sixth week of the Summer Term 2023 - the final week of our academic year at Lampton School. From Monday 5th June all year groups will be promoted into their new year and their year group zone locations in school for Registration and Tutor Period will change, too. Further details can be found on your child’s year team Google page.
It’s Week B, so year assemblies are taking place this week - reflecting on the past school year and looking ahead to the new. Tomorrow night sees the Y10 Celebration Evening taking place following last Tuesday’s very successful Y9 event. Thank you to families for your support of these evenings - they are a great opportunity to come together, initially in the Dining Hall for refreshments, and then in the main Hall for the celebration event. The latter showcases public speaking by students, musical performances and prizes for character and sporting achievements. A great event all round celebrating our values of excellent, integrity and respect in action.
Friday 26th May is an INSET day, so apart from those students sitting Public Examinations, the school site will be closed for students. School starts again on Monday 5th June with Registration at 8.40am - students should be on-site by 8.30am.
With best wishes for the week ahead and the half-term break.

Safeguarding briefing - vapes
In recent years national surveys have indicated that there has been a massive increase in the number of children who have taken up 'vaping'. Vapes are prohibited for under-18s, but yet we know that many shops locally will sell to children. Vapes are harmful and addictive - the 'juice' typically contains nicotine. Under the school’s behaviour policy, vapes are prohibited items, and students found possessing them will spend time in the Reflection Room, with the item confiscated (and subsequently destroyed) and parents contacted. We also educate students about the dangers of vaping through PSHE and the tutor programme. We strongly encourage parents to also talk about the dangers of vaping, and be alert to the telltale signs that their children may be vaping. This guide gives parents and carers gives further information.
Y11 last week of lessons
Students are in their final week of lessons, busy revising for their GCSE examinations. Our final day is Thursday, where following on from the Physics exam students will attend a leavers’ assembly and then be dismissed at 12.30. For students studying for the Computing examination in the afternoon, we will ensure that study facilities are available.
Following on from half term, Year 11 students will be on study leave. This means that students will attend school typically just for their examinations. We will however be ensuring that students have a quiet and supervised place to revise throughout the duration of examinations. Details will be shared via the year group Google Classroom page later in the week.
Y12 (new Y13) - dates for the diary
On Monday 5th June the current Y12s/ new Y13s will have a day thinking about their post-18 pathways - including getting to grips with UCAS and starting to think about university and School Leaver programmes. This will be followed up on Tuesday June 20th with an information session for parents at the Y12 celebration evening - we look forward to seeing you there, more details to follow next half term.
