Lampton School Newsletter: Week 16 2024-25
Posted on Jan 6th 2025Monday 6th January 2025
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Happy New Year and welcome to our newsletter for the first week of the Spring Term 2025. I trust that you all had a restful break and are refreshed for the term ahead.
It’s Week A with whole school assemblies taking place. These are being led by Ms Kapila (Deputy Headteacher) and are focusing on self-reflection and the year ahead.
From today some modifications to our whole school systems come into place. These are outlined below - please take time to look at these with your child/children. They will be reinforced in assemblies and on year team pages of Google classroom this week.
Y12 begin their first round of Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs) today and will be on study leave when not in examinations.
With best wishes for the week and the New Year ahead.
Stephen Davis
Heritage Languages
At Lampton School we value the importance of learning languages and also acknowledge that many of our students already speak a wide range of languages. Therefore, we offer lessons in some of the most commonly spoken languages. Currently we offer lessons after school in Panjabi, Urdu and Russian. Any students are welcome whether they are already fluent and want to prepare for exams or whether they are beginners and want to start learning another language. If you would like your child to learn a new language or prepare to take an exam in their own language please encourage them to join the lessons. Lessons take place on Tuesdays after school and students can find out more information by speaking to Ms Edwards, who teaches in room 10.
Please contact Ms Edwards vedwards@lampton.org.uk to express your interest in your child learning a language that we currently do not teach. You can also contact Ms Edwards if your child is in year 10 or above and you would like them to take part in lessons or if you would like your child to be entered for exams.

Kooth: wellbeing support for students and families
Kooth Digital Health offers free and anonymous therapeutic mental health and wellbeing support to young people in North West London aged between 11-25. Funded and endorsed by the NHS North West London Integrated Care Board the services remain available over the winter period, offering ‘on the day’ wellbeing support from the comfort of your own home via the website: www.kooth.com
Kooth offers free access to online text-based practitioner chats, self-help tools and activities, journal spaces and advice from our non-judgemental, safe and moderated peer: peer communities. With no threshold, waiting list or referral process, young people can access support for ANY issues they may be experiencing. These may include; body image, self-esteem, loneliness, bereavement, academic pressures, stress, anxiety, friendships, sexuality and life changes.
Children in years 7 to 11 will be signing up for Kooth this term in school. This is because we want all students to have access to this resource so they have ongoing support to look after their wellbeing and mental health.
Kooth delivers 1000s of online wellbeing sessions each year in Local Authorities across the UK. As 50% of referrals to CAMHS are unfortunately deemed inappropriate to their criteria, Kooth gives schools, professionals and families an alternative way of ensuring children and young people can access free support when they need it, in a way that they find comfortable to access, via any web-enabled device.
Please contact Miss Kapila askapila@lampton.org.uk if you have any questions regarding the service. Alternatively you can contact Kooth directly, via parents@kooth.com. A selection of parent/carer resources can be accessed using this link: Kooth. Parent & Carer resources
